The NASA Mars Rover Concept looks like something straight from your favorite comic book, but this massive, functional machine could very well be our transportation on another planet.
NASA isn't in the business of building cars, but it does have a new concept vehicle it wants to show the world.
The immersive VR production from Fusion Media Group, in partnership with NASA, will allow users to explore 15 square miles of the Red Planet, thanks to accurately mapped and modeled terrain derived from real orbital satellite data, a news release announced. The company, which is based in Florida, is also responsible for the Tumbler Batmobile replica that Team Galag of Saudi Arabia was supposed to race in the Gumball 3000 rally.
This time, the MRO have sent some pictures of Mars which pretty much looks like planet Earth, as the researchers describe the photos "Martian features with Earth-like touch, and no one would be able to spot the difference", says a researcher. Those familiar with the vehicles mentioned will instantly know that the Mars rover looks something out of the ordinary. This thing is big at 28 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 11 feet tall. Are they planning on sending the Dark Knight to Mars?
The vehicle was designed by Parker Brothers Concepts, which followed specifications provided by Nasa, with the front of the truck designed for scouting, while the detachable back can serve as a laboratory. That is if the said space vehicle will actually be launched into space and used by astronauts and scientists on Mars. In other words, it's not going to Mars.
"It's (Summer of Mars) an all-encompassing effort to review the history of our efforts to explore Mars and look ahead to what is being planned", said Rebecca Shireman, assistant manager of public relations for the Kennedy visitor complex.
Nasa has unveiled a new Mars rover concept vehicle created to function "as both a working vehicle and laboratory" for the next generation of space explorers.
