Instead, the Brazilian chose to take a pay cut and a "risk" and return to the country where he was once cruelly branded as a player who looked like "he was controlled by a 10-year-old on Playstation".
Chelsea were criticised for making a "panic buy" as they signed Luiz in the final hours of the summer transfer window, while the 30-year-old was doubted over his playing style.
Securing the Premier League means he has won the title in Portugal, France and England, to go with the Champions League and Europa League from that first three-and-a-half-year spell at Chelsea.
Luiz missed the 2012 FA Cup final because of injury but is raring to go tomorrow.
Luiz originally left Stamford Bridge in 2014, joining PSG in a £50m deal. Neville has revised his thoughts and lauded the Brazilian this season. I had a great life, great credibility with the club. He came back because he likes taking risks.
"That's why it was a risk".
"That's why it was a risk and I love the risk". If you don't take risks in your life then you never feel something new.
"I think I tried to improve as a person, as a brother, as a son, as a friend every day". But it's okay. God has given me a lot so I'm very happy with this.
"I don't always like the easy life", Luiz said.
After two years in Paris, Luiz is a more mature performer on the field, leaving the criticisms of his positional discipline and concentration firmly in the past.
The contrast between the Chelsea of last season and the Antonio Conte side going for a league and cup "double" is enormous; and Luiz has been such an important par of the transformation, becoming a pivotal cog in Conte's 3-4-3 formation.
While they still have the cup final to come, Conte revealed that planning for next season is already underway at Chelsea and that he and the club share the "same point of view" in terms of future direction.
"Conte is a great person, a great character and he's passionate - he loves football", Luiz added. "If you want me to be honest, be honest with me". He said to me: "You are the player I want in my team and to improve my team.' So I said to him: 'I'm going to work hard for you and for the team" and that's it.
But Conte saw something his predecessor did not and Moses has thrived as a wing-back in the Italian's 3-4-3 system. Asked how he had helped under Antonio Conte to transform Chelsea from 10th in the table past year to Champions and potential Double winners this time, he grinned: "I am the magic, no?" I'm more focused now than ever.
