An 18-year-old's body was recovered from the Whitin Reservoir in Douglas Saturday afternoon, state police tell Boston 25.
Douglas Police said they received a 911 call just after 2 p.m. from a man who said the female swimmer he was with went under the water and did not surface.
Her body was recovered around 2:45 p.m.by a dive team in about six feet of water.
Police say the woman was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
"They're not that common, but at this time of year you prepare yourself for that", Furno said. Douglas resident Pamela Johnson says she's lived on the lake her whole life, and this was a tragedy.
Douglas Deputy Fire Chief John Furno said that one friend "stated that she started to struggle a little bit and went under".
Police have not released the woman's name and said that her death remains under investigation.
