A 21-year-old man in Hong Kong has died after being hit by a mechanical object while walking through a haunted house attraction in Hong Kong.
A visitor by the name of Cheng (his name is not called) had been found unconscious five minutes after I went in the attraction "Buried alive" in the famed Hong Kong amusement Park Ocean Park.
Local media reports suggest that he was struck by a "coffin" at the Halloween-themed event, which has been running since 2001.
He was later confirmed dead in hospital, police said.
Visitors to the rooms of terror, created the annual festival in honor of Halloween, promise that they "will feel buried alive, before escaping from the dark and awful grave".
Visitors are supposed to get inside a coffin-turned-slide, local media said, and slip through into the haunted house where they would experience what the park's website described as "a rocky maze filled with awful ghouls". A probe has found that Cheung was hit by "moving parts of the slide", the South China Morning Post reported.
The 4.5m-long and 2.5m-high slide was approved on Thursday after being examined by independent inspectors.
The department believes the incident was not due to mechanical failure.
The government has ordered the closure of "Buried Alive" until further notice. "The staff could entertain the guests on one hand and the guests would know they are not supposed to pass through those areas".
The park has been closed as police continue their investigation into the incident.
