The Seattle Mariners need to break a five game losing streak. Rougned Odor highlighted the rally with a grand slam as Texas improved to 3-2 on its nine-game road trip. The Mariners have lost six consecutive games, after previously being swept at Houston, and the slump has pushed them virtually out of the American League wild-card playoff chase.

After Thursday's game, the Rangers have 10 games left this season.

Cole Hamels gave up only three hits and one run - Nelson Cruz's 35th homer of the season - while striking out eight and walking two in eight innings for the win. They are hoping James Paxton can get it done against the Rangers in front of his Maple Grove fan section at Safeco Field.

Rangers slugger Adrian Beltre added to the Rangers' tally with his 17th homer, a solo shot off Dan Altavilla in the sixth inning.

For the game, Choo went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Robinson Cano added a solo homer in the ninth off Texas reliever Keone Kela, his 22nd home run of the season and 300th of his career. He threw 73 pitches in his second start since returning from a pectoral strain. It was the first defeat since June 27 against Philadelphia for the 28-year-old Canadian, who hasn't surrendered more than three earned runs since June 16 at Texas.

NOTES: When OF Carlos Gomez doubled in the first inning, it was his second straight double since returning from a sprained ankle suffered on September 9.

The game against the Minnesota Twins was delayed for about 4 minutes while she was attended to and then carried from the seats as players from both teams reacted.

The Mariners had four hits; Jean Segura had two singles.
