Two rockets struck near Damascus airport at dawn on Friday, in an attack that is thought to have been carried out by Israeli warplanes from outside Syria's borders.
A source at the airport spoke to Prensa Latina, saying that nobody was hurt in the attacks, and little damage was caused.
The Lebanese media has yet to announce further details of the attack.
While there have been many attacks attributed to Israel in the area around Damascus worldwide airport - where there are arms depots associated with weapons Israel says are being supplied by Iran to Hezbollah - the issue has become more pressing in recent months as it has become clear that the Assad regime is winning on the battlefield backed by Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.
On Sept. 7, an Israeli missile attack killed at least two Syrian soldiers when targeting a military base near the central city of Masyaf.
Over the past few years, the Israeli military has launched sporadic attacks against various targets on Syrian soil, in assaults slammed by Syria as attempts to boost the terror groups wreaking havoc on the country.
Most recently Israel shot down what it was was a Iranian-supplied Hezbollah reconnaissance drone flying around the Syrian border on Tuesday.
If these reports are true, the strike may have been Israel's response to the unmanned drone from Syria that tried to infiltrate Israeli territory earlier this week.
