Abbott was prime minister in 2015 when he committed his conservative government to holding a compulsory vote of all adult Australians to decide whether gay marriage should be legal. However, he's focused about his goals.
"I know that I'm not actually going to marry Chris Hemsworth", he added.
"I have LGBTI friends and family and think they should be able to marry if they choose to".
"I always hated the word 'bisexual, ' because that's even putting me in a box".
Australia is now taking part in an ongoing postal vote on the issue of marriage equality, and while the result won't be binding, it will give politicians a better idea of what the public wants when they perform a vote in parliament. Simply put, Australia has five years until he's old enough to marry Hemsworth.
Proving he has far from lost his roots, Hemsworth took to Instagram to comment on the upcoming vote on same-sex marriage in Australia.
Townes is courting an established ally of the LGBT community. So let's hope the people of Australia listen to the younger Hemsworth brother and get behind marriage equality.
"There is absolutely no place for violence in the marriage equality debate", he wrote on Twitter.
In a lengthy heartfelt post on Instagram, "The Hunger Games" actor wrote, "I personally do not believe that same sex marriage should come down to a vote".
Hemsworth continued, "To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same sex marriage". "Let's not be silly about this".
Former Blues star Michael Jamison has berated Carlton for their hazy marriage equality message as they failed to state which "side of the fence" they were on.
