Officers responding to a report of an armed robbery on Delaware Street attempted to pull over the suspect's auto, but the man drove off down South Plaza Drive and eventually ran his vehicle into the swamp, police said.
Mendota Heights police say a woman was found dead inside a commercial building Saturday afternoon. The handgun-wielding suspect drove away but turned around when he saw police and ran his auto into a swamp behind White Pine Senior Living.
McCarthy says the senior living facility is now clear and everyone is accounted for. But the suspect remains missing and is believed to have fled.
The department received reports of the robbery Saturday morning. The handgun-wielding, Nguyen crashed his auto into a swamp behind the senior center.
Other law enforcement agencies have been assisting in what now appears to be a wider search.
SWAT teams from Dakota and Washington counties, along with a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter, also assisted with the initial scene.
