Police were initially called just before midnight to the 5200 block of North CR 325W near LaPorte for a 911 call requesting medical help for a sick teenager, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department.
A 19-year-old man reportedly told police upon their arrival that he wanted to go the emergency room.
LaPorte County police said drug-infused gummy bears landed a group of 11 young people in the hospital Thursday night with symptoms including hallucinations, blurred vision, rapid heart beats and pain in their legs.
All of the teens were from Fishers, and they are believed to have been staying at a relative's home. Police located a nearby home where they believe the incident occurred and found ten other teens inside.
After some investigation, police determined that each teenager had consumed one half of a gummy bear that was laced with THC.
THC is the street term for tetrahydrocannabinol, which is an active ingredient found in marijuana.
NWI Times reports that the LaPorte County Drug Task Force is trying to determine where the 18- and 19-year-olds obtained the sweets, and the LaPorte County prosecutor's office will review the case to determine whether charges will be filed. While none of their names were releases, police did say six of them were men and five were women.
Two of the patients tested positive for high levels of THC in their system, police said.
Deputies are still trying to determine where the gummies came from and if any charges will be filed.
The origin of the narcotic infused gummy bears is not known however La Porte County Drug Task Force investigators have been notified and are actively pursuing leads in the case.
