After Penn State beat Pitt 33-14 on Saturday, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin appeared to take a slight jab at the Panthers.

Long live the Penn State-Pitt rivalry. Franklin also said when the Panthers won previous year, 42-39, he knew that for the Panthers, their victory over Penn State was like winning the "Super Bowl".

Here's more context on exactly what Franklin said after beating Pitt, which he said people can interpret "however you want".

Although Narduzzi declined to offer his initial reaction to those comments, he did not seem entirely pleased when asked about Franklin's comments at his weekly news conference Monday at Rooney Sports Complex. "That's what that was for us".

"I know a year ago beating us for them was like the Super Bowl". Meanwhile, Franklin claimed Pitt's 2016 win over the Nittany Lions was "like a Super Bowl" for them. You can interpret it however you want. This win is no more significant to us than last week. I've been saying it for two years... "Each win stands alone". "I'm sure has a press conference". Franklin doesn't like to address games that have happened already in his Tuesday press conference, as he instead tries to focus only on the week ahead.
