Air Force Falcons are ready for their second game of the 2017 college football when they travel to MI to take on the Wolverines on Saturday.
The No. 7 ranked Michigan Wolverines faced their final non-conference opponent of the season today against the Air Force Falcons.
How bad was it?
MI entered the contest as a 23-point favorite at game time and came right out with senior quarterback Wilton Speight throwing from the outset.
Air Force's payout to take this game, the largest in program history. Air Force is rather untested this season.
Air Force (1-1) did its best to apply pressure to Michigan's front five, totaling two sacks and eight tackles for loss.
Donovan Peoples-Jones scored a 79-yard punt return touchdown early in the third quarter.
But Air Force quickly responded with a 64-yard TD aerial from Worthman to Ronald Cleveland to close to within 16-13.
Michigan's defense held the Falcons scoreless for the remainder of the game, limiting their triple-option offense to 168 yards rushing.
MI is now 3-0 on the season entering next Saturday's trip to meet Purdue in the Big Ten Conference opener at 4 p.m.at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. Senior Tim McVey led the attack, rushing for 98 yards on 10 carries making one touchdown.
ABOUT MICHIGAN (2-0): Junior quarterback Wilton Speight threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns but also had two fumbles which thwarted promising scoring drives in the win against Cincinnati.
