Given how close we are getting to the Xbox One X's actual launch, I'd hazard a guess and say pre-orders may go live directly after Sunday's Gamescom conference.
At the same time, the analyst mentioned that the delay of Crackdown 3 cannot be expected to impact the sales of Xbox One X because he does not expect the console to sell much in its first months: "I don't think Xbox One X sales are going to be very high in the first place because of price, and don't think a six to eight month delay for Crackdown makes any material difference".

Microsoft has already confirmed more than 30 current and upcoming games that will be Xbox One X "enhanced". It means that the only really big showcase for the system is Forza 7 and that's out on PC and the regular old Xbox One the month before. Microsoft claims that the Xbox One X has 40% more power than any other console. With more teraflops than Freddy Kruger on a beach holiday, the Xbox One X promises to deliver True 4K gaming to those with the requisite screens. That's fine for people who favour specs, frame rates and shiny visuals, but for those of us who just want to play good games, there's no draw. "However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time". Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. The single game set to launch alongside the new console, Crackdown 3, has been delayed to 2018.
Xbox One X Preorders will be announced during Microsoft Gamescom broadcast on Sunday.
