In an interview to The Guardian, Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron said that he considers the film a "step backwards" for Hollywood.

Avatar and Titanic director Cameron had said, in an interview with The Guardian, that he felt the character of Wonder Woman is "an objectified icon", and that the praise within Hollywood about the film has been "so misguided".

It has been quite some time that Wonder Woman won hearts all over the world, with Gal Gadot portraying the Amazonian Goddess and superhero.

He said: "She's an objectified icon, and it's just male Hollywood doing the same old thing! I'm not saying I didn't like the movie but, to me, it's a step backward".

"She was strong, she was troubled, she was a bad mother, and she earned the respect of the audience through pure grit", he said. "And to me, (the benefit of characters like Sarah) is so obvious - I mean, half the audience is female!". Amid the chaos, Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman, came through with a powerful reply which certainly made her a superhero in our eyes. Jenkins stated that his evaluation of strong female characters was greatly appreciated but that his opinions of "Wonder Woman" are misguided.

Jenkins referenced Cameron's past praise of the 2003 film "Monster" which she wrote and directed. "Fortunately, I'm married now to a strong independent woman who does believe she needs me". There is no right and wrong kind of powerful woman. "That James Cameron?." Cameron also pointed to his female protagonist, Sarah Connor, in the "Terminator" films as a strong woman, saying her imperfections made her intriguing to the audience.

From critics to common people, and to everyone, who is a cinema-goer, Wonder Woman has made a positive impact over nearly every mind-until now.

The petition led the United Nations to drop the plans.

A petition was launched, slamming the decision to use the "large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions" as ambassador for women.

Wonder Woman first appeared in DC Comics in 1941 as a heroine fighting villains, rescuing victims and unearthing evil plots.
