Now, Jay-Z himself has come forward to explain why he and his wife chose them.

Jay-Z and Beyonce's twins have fairly interesting names, though that's par for the course where celebrity babies are concerned.

When chatting to the host of the podcast Eliot Wilson he stated that it seemed appropriate to name their daughter Rumi after their favorite poet. As for the musicians' son, he said: "Sir was like, [a] man, out the gate". Just came out like "Sir'".

JAY Z, 47, is referring to Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet.

"I can't even listen to that song no more", Jay shared. "And she went and got the headphones and climbed on the little stool and then she just started rapping". "I was like, 'Oh, s-.' I have [her full freestyle] on my phone".

JAY Z added that his daughter rapped for an impressive "five minutes!".

"She kept doing that 'boom shakalaka, boom shakalaka.' I was like, 'Oh, she understands the concept of a hook, '" he said. I was like, 'Oh, she understands the concept of a hook.' She's 5, and she understands the concept of a hook. "I was like, 'What the f- is going on here?' One of the great memories".

Jay-Z also admitted that whilst his family will be heading out on tour with him in October, he made a decision to save touring until later in the year so he could spend quality time with his brood without the pressures of being on the road.

After what was reported to be a long search, Beyoncé and Jay Z have finally bought a luxurious home in Los Angeles for their growing family and it turns out they're just like normal people - taking out a huge mortgage on their new home. Beyoncé gave birth to twins Rumi and Sir on the 13 June this year 2017 and fans have been wondering why the parents chose such unusual names for their children.
