To perfectly parallel her own daughter's death, Cersei even delivered the poison with a kiss.
Though her stunning exit in Cersei's dungeons offered the chance of an open end for Ellaria Sand, it seems the character is best considered dead.
Alas, so goes some of our other hopes that Ellaria someone breaks free, sneaks out, and murders Cersei.
The scene was heartbreaking, regardless of your views of Ellaria. So, that's it. That last scene is all we're going to get.
Thank you very much. I never got to have a mother, but Myrcella did. Catch up on seasons one to seven on NOW TV. I put myself imaginatively in Ellaria's place and listened. Then, using the same poison Ellaria uses on Myrcella, Cersei dooms Tyene to the same death. But I couldn't second guess where Cersei was taking it which was compelling.
'I just thought the delivery of that information was so clever, ' Varma added. I need somebody to help me!' and they had to cut me out of them.
I agree that as two fierce mothers willing to do anything to protect their loved ones, they have a lot on common.
At this point, I think it's important to note that Game of Thrones doesn't really shy away from graphic deaths. Yeah. Now she just wants to watch the world burn, preferably while she's lighting the matches and dropping them into strategically placed reserves of wildfire.
So yes, she did try to kill him, but she also saved him too.
Are you surprised that this is the end for Varma and the Ellaria character? The extraordinary locations I got to film in-in Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia and Seville in Spain-not like some of the poor Night's Watch freezing on night shoots in Belfast.
Cersei took no pity on Ellaria.
In the fifth season finale, Ellaria is seemingly ready to forgive and forget that the Lannisters are responsible for the death of her lover, Oberyn Martell.
Cersei has insinuated that she will live out her days in that cell, keeping her alive to make her think about what she's done for as long as physically possible-even declaring that guards will force feed her to keep her alive.
Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns-a fan favorite on Game of Thrones for her biting dialogue and no-nonsense attitude-was forced to poison herself in the final moments of this episode after the Lannister army sacked Highgarden.
Game of Thrones continues on HBO this Sunday in the United States and will be simulcast on Sky Atlantic on Monday at 2am.
