"I ask all New Yorkers to keep trooper Davis's family, loved ones and colleagues in the State Police in their prayers during this incredibly hard time". Used with permission of her family.
Civilians and members of law enforcement lined the streets and stood outside the funeral home where Trooper Joel Davis body was taken to in Watertown.
A tragedy this past weekend demonstrated how deeply people in the north country depend on the resources of the New York State Police.
The funeral service will be held at the Magrath Sports Complex at Fort Drum, home of the Army's 10th Mountain Division.
WWNY-TV reported state police expect 3,000 to 5,000 officers to attend Saturday's services for Trooper Joel Davis. It included officers from the Evans Mills and Theresa police departments, officers who worked with Trooper Davis.
His funeral is tomorrow, also at the base.
Davis was a 36-year-old father of three teenagers, assigned to the town of Philadelphia, Beach said. Davis was responding to reports of shots fired on the couple's property.
Walters is an active-duty staff sergeant stationed at Fort Drum, Beach's statement said.
Justin Walters is in jail without bail, charged with first and second-degree murder.
