According to Mirror the defender has signed on a three-year deal and will earn around €3.25million per season.

Portugal defender Pepe has joined Turkish champions Besiktas on a free transfer after his Real Madrid contract expired.

The Portugal global had looked to be set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to an ESPN FC source, but the move to Ligue 1 failed to materialise.

Following his ten seasons with Real Madrid the player has opted for Turkey over Paris and will hook up with Portuguese national team colleague Ricardo Quaresma, now in his second spell with the black and whites.

Pepe wanted another two years at the Bernabeu, yet Los Blancos chiefs were only willing to offer him one.

Real fans have been keeping a close eye on the movement of the club veteran, who on Tuesday took to Twitter to tease out his next move ahead of an official announcement.

The 34-year-old was a mainstay in the Madrid side after joining from Porto in 2007, appearing 334 times for the club.

Pepe started in the final of Euro 2016 and played the full 120 minutes as Portugal beat France 1-0 in Paris after extra time.
