Jamal Crawford would reportedly like to join the Lakers if he gets bought out of his contract with the Hawks. The signing of Crawford is contingent upon the Atlanta Hawks buying out Crawford if/when the Clippers complete their sign-and-trade for Danilo Gallinari.
Crawford will only consider contending teams following a buyout should the trade go through, sources says.
Crawford could slide into the starting shooting guard role while mentoring Ball, who Spears said he already has a "solid relationship" with at this point.
Crawford has struggled in recent years to keep up his level of play and his playmaking for others and lack of defense are not exactly what the Lakers need from free agent signings. He's proven to be an incendiary scorer off the bench and could help the Lakers incredibly short guard rotation. He's averaged double-digit scoring totals in each of the last 15 seasons, including the 12.3 points per game he scored in 2016-17 behind 36 percent shooting from three-point range.
