"We are all in state of shock at this awful tragedy".
In a message shared on Twitter, he told his 2.94million followers: "Saddened to hear of the death of UAE Para athlete Abdullah Hayayei".
A Met Police spokesman said: "London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance were called shortly after 5pm to reports of a seriously injured man at Newham Leisure Centre in Prince Regent Lane".
Police are carrying out an investigation with support from the Health and Safety Executive and the IPC.
There are few details explaining exactly what occurred, but Majid Al Usaimi, the vice president of the UAE Disabled Sports Federation, said to Dubai Sports TV of the tragedy, "We are overcome by grief, all of the UAE delegation here in London, and are truly shocked by this news, but it is God's will".
The incident was witnessed by his team-mates, team officials, and a number of staff from the London 2017 organising committee, according to Craig Spence, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) media and communications director. It's a big loss for everyone and the UAE and our condolences goes to his family. He was ambitious, he dreamed to raise his country and achieve medals for his country and his family.
The F34 class is for athletes with a coordination impairment, most of which are wheelchair users.
Hayayei had been preparing for his second world championships after he came fifth in the discus and eighth in shot put at the 2015 World Para Championships in Doha, Qatar.
The javelin star, who also competes in shot put and discus, passed away just days before he was set to compete, after a "metal discus cage fell on his head", at Newham Leisure Centre. "As a father of five kids, he had a lot of dreams within the para sports movement".
A moment's silence will be held at the London Stadium opening ceremony in honour of his death.
