Free agent point guard Derrick Rose and the Cavaliers are in "serious talks" about a one-year deal, ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Adrian Wojnarowski report.
He's received interest from plenty of teams including the Knicks, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the San Antonio Spurs and, most recently; the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Carmelo Anthony reportedly is willing to waive the trade kicker in his contract - passing up just more than $8 million - to increase his chances of being traded from the New York Knicks. Rose did miss 18 games, though, and injuries have been a problem for him throughout his career.
Altman has been with the Cavs since 2012 and had worked as David Griffin's assistant since after the 2016 National Basketball Association championship season.
Rose, of course, won the National Basketball Association regular-season MVP award in 2011, but he was often injured during his tenure in Chicago after tearing his ACL the next season. Now take that team and throw in another player in his 20's that won an MVP award less than a decade earlier.
Rose, 28, managed to stay healthy with the New York Knicks last season.
Signing Derrick Rose would certainly add a consistent scoring threat and playmaker to Cleveland's bench.
Aside from the fact that the Cavaliers are the reigning National Basketball Association champions, Rose would also be closer to his family in Chicago.
Two options stand above all others as safe bets for the point guard: the Bulls and the Knicks.
Come home, D. Rose, come home. Rose should not be a starter on legitimate title contender and would not be a featured part of the offense, though Windhorst reports the Cavs want to play him with Kyrie Irving in the backcourt.
A minimum salary for Rose is $2,116,955. The Lakers view the 26-year-old Clark as a good mentor for Ball after helping the Warriors win the 2017 National Basketball Association championship.
