Prince George celebrates his fourth birthday today (22 July).

A beaming Prince George wears a striped, collarless shirt and his hair combed casually to the side in the photo.

"(His parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton) are delighted to share a new official portrait of Prince George to mark HRH's 4th birthday tomorrow", Kensington Palace said in a tweet on its verified account.

This time, the birthday portrait was taken by Chris Jackson of Getty Images, one of the regular royal photographers, who married Kate's stylist, Natasha Archer, in May. It was taken by a professional photographer.

George is third in line for the British throne, behind his father, Prince William, and his grandfather, Prince Charles.

Both children were born at St Mary's Hospital in London.

In September, Prince George will start at the private school Thomas's Battersea, where fees cost £17,604 a year.

This week's tour to Poland and Germany came at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and is being viewed by many as a soft power approach to diplomacy as Brexit negotiations get underway.

The prince and princess explored two rescue helicopters as they visit Airbus in Hamburg before they boarded their flight home.

Princess Charlotte did not seem pleased to be carrying on with her royal duties Friday, as the tot was seen having a little temper tantrum during the last leg of their tour through Poland and Germany.
