Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr smiles while speaking at a news conference before Game 2 of basketball's NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers in Oakland, Calif., Sunday, June 4, 2017. His oft-overlooked defense was incredible tonight, and he was no less impressive on offense, making 13-of-22 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs and 4-of-8 threes.
Game 3 will take place on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.
"We know what we're capable of, going back to Cleveland and we have been in this position before, but we're plain and simple going to have to play better, especially against this team because both teams have gotten better".
What was so discouraging for the Cavs is that they played better in Game 2 but the result didn't really change. And we forced them to 20 turnovers and they still beat us pretty good. You can't take a peek somewhere and lose your man. He did not attempt a 3-point shot in the quarter.
Durant scored nine points, which matched the nine small forward LeBron James posted with his three field goals and two free throws in the period.
The first two games have shown a stark difference in depth.
While James has delivered he had a triple-double Sunday night in Game 2 it hasn't been almost enough against the superstar-laden Golden State Warriors.
Fellow starters Tristan Thompson (eight points, four rebounds) and J.R. Smith (scoreless) were invisible again and no one on the bench stepped up leaving King James helpless for much of the night.
The unbeaten Warriors had been 11-0 under acting coach Mike Brown - "My guy did OK while I was gone", Kerr said with a grin.
"It's human nature to let your guard down, human nature, 2-0, everybody in the world 'It's over, it's over, '" Livingston said. We saw what happened previous year. The intention is to go the rest of the series.
