According to Danish law, Chung will be extradited to South Korea within 30 days of the decision.

A key figure in a political corruption scandal that led to the ousting of former South Korean President Park Geun-hye on Wednesday dropped the appeal of her extradition case from Denmark to Seoul.

Chung Yoo Ra, the daughter of Park's confidante Choi Soon Sil, cancelled her appeal against the extradition, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions wrote on Twitter, adding that a date had not been set.

"The decision to extradite Chung has been confirmed by the Danish Justice Ministry and we have begun discussing with our Danish counterparts over when to extradite her", the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.

Eriksen argued in the Aalborg district court that his client had not committed any crime and that the extradition was politically motivated.

Chung remains in custody under an extended detention order in Denmark. She has denied any wrongdoing. She is the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, who is now jailed on suspicion of bribery and receiving favors from companies in return for manipulating government affairs.

Choi is already on trial for coercing local conglomerates into donating a total of 77.4 billion won ($69 million) to two non-profit foundations, and allegedly used some of the donations for personal gain. Choi had no official position in the Park administration.
