The Chinese phone maker has officially joined the Wireless Power Consortium. Fresh information suggest that Xiaomi has joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) that will make it possible for the next flagship smartphone from the company to support Qi standard wireless charging.
In supporting the wireless charging format, a design change in hardware is required. The China-based manufacturer now lists among brands such as Apple and Samsung according to the official website of the consortium. It might have been nice to have wireless charging available for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, adding to the premium nature of the edge-to-edge screened handset.
From the existing reports, it is speculated that the 2018 Xiaomi flagship - the Mi 7 might feature a 6-inch OLED display that is made by Samsung. The SoC is expected to be accompanied by 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
As the Android biggies started arriving with the wireless charging feature, even Apple adopted to the same. The presence of wireless charging on Mi 7 could mean that it will be arriving with glass chassis. With the Qi system, a device is placed on a pad that is plugged into an outlet. Having said that, it is definitely great news for users who have been waiting to see wireless charging in Xiaomi phones. Through the use of induction charging (which uses coils inside the phone and the pad), a magnetic field is created which produces electricity. Share us your thoughts by commenting below.
