If you're interested in checking out this feature for yourself and now own the Xperia XZ Premium, we have some good news - Sony has confirmed on Twitter that the high-end smartphone will receive the 3D Creator app with the Android 8.0 Oreo update.
Sony has officially confirmed via tweet that the latest 3D Creator app will arrive on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
Coming to the smaller flagship now, the Sony XZ1 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD display, which is the only field where XZ1 Compact is behind the XZ1. That's something you don't see very often these days. With this you can scan a variety of things and quickly turn them into a 3D model. The standout feature of the 3D Creator app is it will let users scan 3D objects using the rear camera of their handset, and then utilize the image in various ways. It's quite gimmicky, but it's still hilarious to try out.

While it's hard to believe there's a mainstream audience for having a statue of your friend's face printed out or exporting a detailed model of your spaghetti dinner, the scanning looks like a competent first stab at a feature creators will likely want in the future. Sony says that it can even be sent to a 3D printer for printing, should you wish to do so.
Powered by a 2,700 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, the Sony Xperia XZ1 is a 4G ready smartphone with a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and WiFi as standard connectivity options.
