This is why we can't have nice things.
Samantha, an "intelligent" sex robot, was molested so brutally at a tech fair in Austria, that she had to be sent for fix and cleaning.
Samantha is an Artificial Intelligence robot and reacts to touch and talks.
She has a number of preprogrammed phrases in multiple languages to use when touched in certain areas and can interact with the Amazon Echo by asking the device to play romantic music if her user gets frisky.
That didn't happen at the festival.
Some publications even reported the damage to "Samantha" as evidence of male aggression being normalised.
Santos claimed people "mounted her breasts" and broke two of her fingers. "She was heavily soiled", he said, according to Britain's Metro news site.
He added people treated the doll "like barbarians".
Despite heavy physical damage to Samantha's exterior by the sex-crazed tech fair visitors, her AI software worked perfectly.
That gave the inventor cause for hope.
Arran Lee Squire, a British engineer who helped Santos develop "Samantha", told the Daily Post he believes the robot should be treated like a lady.
The doll had to be shipped back to Barcelona, where she was made, for repairs.
In a public showing of Samantha, a sex doll with built-in computing power to make her more realistic, the love droid suffered a bad fate.
Santos has sold 15 AI sex robots similar to Samantha at $4,000 a piece as per reports in the Daily Star.
