Eleven people were taken to local hospitals with injuries after a man driving a Porsche at Saturday morning's Cars and Coffee event at the Boise Spectrum careened into a crowd watching him.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m.

In Facebook messages to KING 5's sister station KTVB, Elizabeth Langley wrote "a guy in a gray Porsche Spider was leaving Cars and Coffee, and went to burn out of the auto show in front of a crowd along Overland watching the cars all leave".

Charles LeBar said the eleven were seriously, but not critically, injured.

While showing off, the driver's Porsche lost control and jumped the curb into spectator on the sidewalk, according to the Idaho Statesman So far five people have been taken to the hospital in ambulances.

Boise Police are investigating a crash involving a vehicle that was part of a auto show.

The driver was on scene cooperating with police.

In Facebook messages to KTVB, a witness wrote that "a guy in a gray Porsche Spider (sic) was leaving Cars and Coffee, and went to burn out of the auto show in front of a crowd along Overland watching the cars all leave".

Adding that the driver lost control "while going too fast", went up over the foot path and onto some grass where onlookers were sitting. My husband was nearby. "My husband saw people all over the ground".

Overland Road is closed as officers investigate. In a release, police said the investigation is ongoing and that it will be forward to the prosecutor for possible charges once completed.

No one has yet been cited, said LeBar.

"I have no doubt that the driver did not intend to do what he did, but that is an unfortunate outcome of reckless driving".
