Astute fans noticed that the move comes three years to the day after Swift went pop by announcing her 1989 album and releasing "Shake It Off".
It looks like something big is brewing for Taylor Swift!
The "Blank Space" singer - or someone with access to her account - appears to have unfollowed all her followers online, deleted all posts on her Instagram and Tumblr pages, and stripped all content from her website.
Swift also removed her Twitter avatar, and her entire website has faded to black.
"New Era? Hacked? #SomeoneCallTheAmbulance Can't breathe right now", one fan tweeted.
Another tweeted: "Ladies and gentlemen, Taylor Swift has broke the Internet".
There's been a lot of talk that Taylor would release an album at the end of this year.
Back in 2015, Taylor was targeted by hackers who took over her Twitter and Instagram accounts because the star quickly regained control of her profiles.
While Swift going dark is certainly a very curious choice, we're hoping it means that she is in fact going to return to social media with good news...and new music! However, Us Weekly exclusively revealed in May that she has been quietly recording a new album during her time off.
Taylor Swift's latest video, to be released on May 17, has a Sin City feel and includes many of her famous friends including Ellie Goulding, Karlie Kloss, Jessica Alba, Lena Dunham, Kendrick Lamar, Hayley Williams and Zendaya.
She knows there's a demand for a new album and has really started focusing on making that happen for fans.
