Mnuchin had been in Kentucky to visit Fort Knox with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Citing a report from the Louisville Courier-Journal, which noted that Mnuchin and Linton also went there to view the eclipse, CREW alleges that the couple may have planned the trip around the eclipse and used the government plane for personal purposes.
The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) have alleged that the couple planned a trip using a government plane specifically to secure a view of the eclipse on Monday.
CREW is asking the Department of Treasury to release all documents pertaining to their travel.
Despite this fact, on the other hand, in the wake of erasing the post and making her Instagram account private, Linton discharged a short proclamation using her marketing expertise. After a woman named Jennifer Miller posted a critical comment about the post, Linton defended the couple's luxurious lifestyle by posting a lengthy comment full of classist attacks against Miller.
In addition to Monday's trip, CREW requested all other records of Mnuchin's use of a government plane as Treasury secretary.
Linton, who wore an all-white search for the excursion, included hash tags of the originator names she was wearing including Hermès, Valentino, Roland Mouret, and Tom Ford. Then an Instagram user criticized her, saying: "Glad we could pay for your little getaway". Adorable!" Linton wrote. "Do you think the USA govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Linton wrote back, adding: "Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband?" "Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country?"
Designers have responded by insisting Mrs Linton, married to former hedge fund manager Steve Mnuchin, received no benefit for mentioning them.
A Treasury Department spokesperson told The Washington Post the flight was cleared appropriately and the Mnuchins payed for Linton to attend.
This isn't Linton's first controversy. Critics said the book was inaccurate, and it was even condemned by the government of Zambia.
