Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has been allowed to leave the Algeria camp so that he can finalise a move before the transfer window shuts at midnight.

It appeared as though the Italian club ended their interest in Mahrez after insisting their transfer dealings for the summer are now over.

"Leicester City FC's Algerian worldwide Riyad Mahrez, who is now with the national team in Sidi-Moussa preparing for the games against Zambia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, was authorised by national coach Lucas Alcaraz and the Algerian Football Federation to make an express trip to Europe to formalise his transfer to his new club on Thursday".

The 26-year-old expressed his intention to leave the Foxes back in May, but he has since failed to pursue a fresh club with AS Roma being the closest to his services.

"In recent days, Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona have all been credited with interest in the 2015/16 PFA Players" Player of the Year.

Arsene Wenger's side are now on the cusp of losing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to rivals Liverpool while Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester City could still be on despite an initial £50m rebuffed by the club's hierarchy.

Spanish clubs have an extra day to complete player recruitment, with the transfer deadline not until 2200 GMT Friday.
