Lenovo's Phab series of smartphones, which were launched less than a year ago and which were some of the first devices to boast of the Google Tango feature, will not receive the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade.
Lenovo is not quite popular when it comes to Android updates and its effect was seen when Motorola went from quick updates under Google's ownership to mostly rare updates under Lenovo. Now as per a report of Android Police, company's official software upgrade page has revealed that there will be no Nougat 7.0 update for the Lenovo's entire Phab series of smartphones. Currently, the Phab and the Phab Plus are running on the Android 5.0 while the Phab 2 Pro, Phab 2 Plus, and Phab 2 are running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Included in those that will not receive any more updates are the original Phab device released in 2015, the Phab Plus, Phab2, Phab2 Plus, and Phab2 Pro.
While we already expect that for older devices, the Phab2 Pro was just released past year so there should be some more updates to it. Probably they will not be adding new Phab devices anytime soon or ever and focus on their newer products like the Vibe and K8 smartphones. The phablet sports a 6.2-inch 1440 pixels IPS display and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. The first two will remain on Android 5.0 Lollipop, while the other two will not be updated beyond Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
If you're keen on your Android updates, for now, you might want to avoid Lenovo.
