Iranian authorities have arrested 27 members of a group linked to the Islamic State militants on suspicion of plotting attacks on religious centers in the country. Still reeling from fatalities incurred during twin gun and bomb attacks launched by ISIS against political and religious sites in Tehran in June, Iran has devoted extensive resources toward fighting ISIS overseas.

The ministry further said that some of the accused were trying to smuggle arms and ammunition into the country by hiding them in home appliances, Al Jazeera reported.

Mian Raza Rabbani and his delegation also held meetings with other Iranian leaders.

On June 7, a twin terrorist attack in the Iranian capital of Tehran left at least 70 people dead and more than 40 injured.

They were nabbed during a series of intelligence operations and through intelligence sharing with the intelligence service of a regional country, it added.

The statement came after Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Sunday that the body had smashed a terrorist outfit in a northwestern Iranian border area.

Iranian police have arrested almost 27 people recently on suspicion of plotting attacks for Isis.

At Monday's meeting, the statement noted, Zarif had described his country's relations with Hamas as "stable", stressing Tehran's desire to "overcome all differences with a view to supporting Palestine, the Palestinian people and Muslim unity".

"Missile program is Iran's internal and security issue, aimed to defensive purposes", said Qasemi during a press conference in Tehran, according to the Trend's correspondent reporting from the event. Authorities speculated that the shooting may have been carried out by an individual with psychological issues, or was the result of an accidental discharge of a weapon.
