The Yankees come into tonight riding high after a pair of series wins, inching within 2.5 games of the Red Sox for the division lead.

Kluber, a former Cy Young victor, was brilliant on the mound and the right-hander gave up two runs on three hits over eight innings, while whiffing seven.

Corey Kluber pitched eight strong innings and was supported by four solo homers as the Cleveland Indians beat the New York Yankees 6-2 on Monday night at Yankee Stadium. After Zimmer singled on Severino's 108th pitch, Adam Warren entered the game.

After shortstop Francisco Lindor grounded out and left fielder Austin Jackson struck out looking, Ramirez blasted a 3-2 pitch from Yankees starter Luis Severino over the wall in right-center field for his 19th home run of the season, but he was far from done at the plate. When Severino threw one in the dirt, Ramirez tried to advance but was gunned down at third by Sanchez for the second out. Jacoby Ellsbury scored on the play after doubling with two outs. After falling behind 0-and-2, Todd Frazier - 2-for-24 against Kluber to that point - lined a 2-and-2 curveball to left for an RBI single that made it 2-1.

Jackson gave the Indians a fifth run with a solo homer off of Warren in the top of the eighth inning, and Zimmer doubled home Santana in the top of the ninth.

Severino (11-6) allowed four runs (three earned), four hits and three walks while striking out nine in 6 2/3 innings.

In the first inning, Ramirez ripped a straight full-count fastball, which came in at 98 miles per hour, to right-center for his 19th homer to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead. The blast to the second deck in right broke a scoreless tie and put the Indians ahead for good.

Indians pitchers have been allergic to home runs this season, giving up just 140 this season before Monday; only the Los Angeles Dodgers have surrendered less. He has allowed 33 hits and seven walks in 50 innings, striking out 58.
