Speaking about going into therapy, she said: "For the first time in my life, there wasn't a pinhole of light at the end of the tunnel". The 28-year-old singer - who quietly quit the band Paramore in 2015 - has admitted to seeing a therapist to deal with her personal turmoil and Hayley also revealed she's even thought about death. "It was just hopelessness", she said. I don't think I understood how unsafe hopelessness is. "I just was done", Hayley explained.
Williams went on to tell The Fader that she stepped back to search for something better and more meaningful in life, but Taylor York - Paramore's guitarist and her principal songwriting partner - began sending her demos, and eventually, they pulled her back in. "Maybe it's time for me to find that". He later explained to Fader: "I told her she didn't have to do stuff".
"I just was done", Williams said.
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams revealed that she greatly suffered from depression for a period of time in 2015 and privately left Paramore because of it.
Incidentally, both Hayley and Taylor contemplated quitting the band altogether, as he too struggled with depression. To this day she still struggles with people asking her about the band's drama, legal issues and members leaving the band, adding, "I'm still going through a lot of those things".
York continued: "We'd been doing it for so long I think we were like 'why are we doing this?' If we don't want to be here, if we're not passionate about this, there is no point". Her story is definitely an inspiration for others, and we know that her fans are so happy that she's healthy today.
