The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
According to a poll released by Bloomberg Tuesday, Trump sits a clear two points higher than Clinton in the eyes of the American people, even though Clinton has spent her post-campaign life vacationing alone, shopping another book about herself, and endorsing Trump's biggest insult against her. Trump beat her out in the poll even though Trump's approval rating has been extremely low for a new president. 55 percent have an unfavorable view of Trump, but a staggering 55 percent feel the same way about Hillary Clinton.
But negative perception of the president hasn't improved his former opponent's standing in the eyes of the public.
Bloomberg polled 1,000 Americans earlier this month and found that Clinton is viewed favorably by 39 percent of Americans, compared to 40 percent of Americans who approve of what Trump has done so far in the White House.
During the 2016 race for the Oval Office, Clinton and Trump had consistently low favorability ratings, with Trump's scores falling as low as minus 20. Her lowest reading ever, 38 percent, was recorded in September 2015, just before the FBI expanded its investigation into her use of a private email server.
"There's growing discontent with Hillary Clinton even as she has largely stayed out of the spotlight", pollster J. Ann Selzer, who oversaw the survey, told Bloomberg. Clinton has popped up sporadically for select speaking engagements, often taking on Mr. Trump in speeches and through Twitter, but she has her party.
Bloomberg's last poll was taken prior to the election and it revealed that a small 8 percent of those likely to vote for Clinton had an unfavorable view of her. The poll shows that her unfavorables are historically high with Democrats, and many are showing buyer's remorse for supporting Clinton and not "the other guy". Bernie Sanders of Vermont had won the Democratic nomination, or that they never liked Clinton and only voted for her because she was the lesser of two bad choices. But it seems to confirm tht the 2016 presidential election featured two of the most polarizing candidates in US history.
