AAA Michigan surveys daily fuel prices at 2,800 gas stations across the state.
Nationally, the upward trend continued Sunday, with fuel averaging $2.26 across the US, up from $2.23 seven days earlier, AAA said.
Gasoline prices in Valdosta inched upward over the last week, according to statistics. Over the same period, the average gasoline price in Georgia rose from $2.08 to $2.12, according to the auto club.
A petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.com said a recent increase in crude oil prices produced the hike. The state's most expensive gas is being sold in Jackson at $2.48 a gallon. The national average has decreased 7.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 2.7 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
"Call it the summer blues at the pump - prices may fluctuate mildly in the weeks ahead, " said DeHaan.
"With July Fourth now in the rear-view mirror, gasoline prices in many states have advanced following the uptick in oil prices in late June", he said. That's 6 cents higher than this time previous year.
The Detroit area's average was up about 8 cents per gallon from a week ago to $2.42 per gallon.
Oklahoma- $2.00/g, up 3.3 cents per gallon from last week's $1.97/g.
