A Rhode Island man is under arrest after he allegedly fled from police who were trying to pull him over and leading them on a chase that crossed from New Hampshire into MA.
Around 2:15 Sunday morning, New Hampshire State Police tried to stop a reported stolen vehicle on Interstate 89 in Warner. The vehicle was described as a 2003 grey Nissan sedan.
New Hampshire troopers and Nashua Police slowed Coffeyusingspike strips after he sped down Interstate 89, Interstate 93, and the Everett Turnpike, the statement said. The vehicle continued south onto the Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua.
He is held on charges of receiving a stolen vehicle, three counts of being a fugitive of justice, operating recklessly to endanger, failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and giving false identification to police.
With the assistance of Nashua Police, spike strips were successfully deployed near exit 3, but authorities said Coffey kept fleeing and continued south onto the Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua.
Once a hearing is scheduled and held in Massachusetts, Coffey will be extradited back to State of New Hampshire to answer multiple charges from Nashua Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police.
Riding on a rim, the auto continued south into Tyngsborough, Mass., south on Tyngsboro Road, where Tyngsborough police successfully deployed another set of spike strips.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact New Hampshire State Police Trooper R. St. Cyr at 603-223-4381.
