"We must be united in dealing with 26 other member-states and with Britain in the negotiations that begin today".
Speaking to Sky News, Hammond said Britain should push for clarity as soon as possible over a transition period for businesses in its negotiations with the EU.
In a speech to parliament, May said her programme for government would include measures to support the aerospace industry in Wales, protect access to British waters that are "so important to Scottish fishermen", and open new markets for key exporting industries in Northern Ireland.
The speech comes after May lost her majority in a snap election earlier this month, leaving her at the head of a minority government with no deal in place to insure that the government can deliver on its agenda.
"I will spare no effort to fulfil the Government's duty as co-guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement".
The British and Irish governments were parties to the agreement, and Irish voters approved it in two 1998 referendums.
But after a week of haggling following her election debacle she has made a decision to call the DUP's bluff, going ahead without a formal agreement with the Irish party. Mr Hogan said that Sinn Féin MPs could exercise disportionate... Four militant attacks have raised questions about her grip on national security, and the death of at least 79 people in a tower block fire has become a flashpoint for public anger at her party's record in government.
Unless Sinn Féin and the DUP agree to go back into a devolved government by June 29, direct rule will have to be imposed from London. It will pave the way for Parliament eventually to repeal or amend unwanted European Union laws after Brexit.
"We need to change the direction of our country".
"It is all of the people of Northern Ireland's money".
She said: "This suggestion that every single person who's a homosexual wants to change the definition of marriage is actually wrong".
While the party membership was described by the Prime Minister as "friends and allies", it appears their rumoured demands for more money for infrastructure projects and guarantee of a "frictionless" border after Brexit have not been met.
May has been seeking a deal with the DUP since shortly after she failed to win a parliamentary majority in an election on June 8.
The speech is expected to set out a raft of new laws needed to implement Brexit, plans to strengthen counter-terrorism powers and a series of bills created to reform Britain's infrastructure and economy in preparation for life after the EU.
The government set out details of this "Great Repeal Bill" in March.
