Mr Rouhani is a moderate cleric who helped secure a landmark 2015 nuclear deal with Western powers.
Mixed reactions greeted President Hassan Rouhani's landslide reelection victory in Iran over the weekend.
Who can say the region will experience total stability without Iran?' Rouhani told a news conference, broadcast live on state television.
US-Iran relations had reached a major breakthrough, but the prospect of growing Iranian influence in the region unsettled many, including Saudi Arabia, a longtime US ally.
Mr Rouhani stressed that it was Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians and members of Lebanon's Hezbollah movement who had been fighting terrorists in the Middle East in recent years, and accused the U.S. and its allies of funding terrorists.
He said Iran was still forming its judgement of the Trump administration.
"Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani was the first one who encouraged me a year ago to run for the 12th round of the presidential election".
According to Trump's speech, Iran has been fanning "the fires of sectarian conflict and terror" for decades, a claim that Qassemi took clear exception to.
"I am hopeful that through our joint efforts, the traditionally warm and friendly Armenian-Iranian relations will continue to develop and strengthen in all areas, registering a qualitatively new level of cooperation between our peoples", Sarkisian said.
Saudi Arabia is surely now relieved that the visit has given an impression of a favorable shift in the USA policy in the Middle East, one that takes a stronger stance against its archrival Iran.
In response to another question, Rouhani said violence and extremism posed serious dangers to the Middle East and the entire world, adding, "The era of meddling in others' internal affairs, the era of war against other countries and the era of giving money to terrorist groups has come to an end".
"We will uproot terrorism and will bring stability to region in 4 coming years", Rouhani said. The accord took effect in January 2016 and was supposed to terminate all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation has been hampered due to United States policies.
"The enemy thinks that our power is restricted only to missiles, while our power lies in this nation's faith", he said at a cabinet meeting.
Rouhani, a pragmatist who won last week's presidential election, hit back hard by dismissing the summit as a "ceremonial (event) that had no political value and will bear no results".
"The American people have not forgotten the blood spilt on September 11". Trump, meanwhile, has threatened to tear up the deal.
