Led by Gunner Heidt's home run and three hits, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats unleashed a 19-hit attack to beat the Hartford Yard Goats, 11-0, Saturday night, before a sellout crowd at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford.
Correlle Prime put the Yard Goats on the board in the second inning. He took starter Chris Rowley (2-2) deep for a solo shot to begin the frame, giving Hartford a 1-0 advantage. Danny Jansen and Tim Lopes joined Heidt with three hits apiece. Eleven batters in total came to the plate for the Fisher Cats in that inning, with Hartford starting pitcher Jack Wynkoop leaving after six of them.
Yard Goats starter Ryan Castellani (5-4) was superb for the Colorado Rockies affiliate. He allowed five hits, struck out eight and walked none. Richard Urena - who extended his hitting streak to a season-high nine games - and Harold Ramirez each plated a pair with singles in the inning, among other RBI base hits for New Hampshire.
New Hampshire later scored in three additional innings to finish off the shutout, including a seven-run fourth.
The series continues tonight in Hartford.
Shane Reid-Foley was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst, but he also turned in a quality performance, striking out eight over six innings to pick up the win. New Hampshire's next home game is Monday (6:35 p.m.) vs. Erie.
