The National Moon Sighting Committee, Bangladesh is still in a meeting at the conference room of the Islamic Foundation to decide the first day of Eid al Fitr and a formal announcement is expteced any moment. Conversely, the festival will be rejoiced in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India on June 26.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees are holding separate meetings in different parts of the country to help the Central Committee reach a decision. If not, the next day is counted as 30th day of the prevailing month and the new month begins thereafter.
Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramadan, will be celebrated in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Monday as the moon of "Shawwal" was sighted on Sunday. Muslims were seen greeting each other.
"We would like to inform you that on Saturday will be 28 Ramadan and the moon will be of 4 hours age, therefore it is nearly impossible to observe it on Saturday".
He called upon the federal and the provincial governments to resolve the issue of moon sighting on permanent basis with the consultation of the religious scholars.
The sky is expected to be clear in most parts of the country on June 25, so there are chances that the moon will be sighted on Sunday evening i.e. after the 29th fast in many areas of Pakistan is observed, according to the Met department.
Muslims who work in public and private sectors may ask permission to leave if they want to celebrate Eid.
