"Two weeks ago the Manchester Arena was attacked by a suicide bomber and now London has been struck once more".
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called news of the attack on the London Bridge and nearby Borough Market "awful" in a tweet Saturday night.
The prime minister has chaired a meeting of the government's Cobra emergency committee and is expected to make a statement shortly.
The stabbing took place in the nearby Borough Market.
Ben said: "We saw people running away and then I saw a man in red with a large blade, at a guess 10 inches long, stabbing a man, about three times".
He said the pub was then closed and armed police told them to leave the area.
One of two Australians caught up in the London terror attack has been identified as Queenslander Candice Hedge, who was stabbed in the neck during the rampage that left seven dead.
She said that election will go ahead as planned on Thursday and the national campaigning will resume on Monday.

At least six people were killed and almost a dozen others hospitalized following a horrific hit-and-run on the London Bridge and a vicious stabbing attack that the London police declared "terrorist incidents" last night as authorities were bracing for further bloodshed.
"We believe three people were involved, but we still have got some more inquiries to do to be 100 per cent confident in that", he said.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, but the ensuing chaos - in a country still shaken by last month's bombing at a Manchester concert as well as an attack outside Parliament in March- quickly reverberated around the world.
At least seven civilians were killed and 48 others injured, police said.
The scene is right next to London Bridge station, a key railway terminus and a busy interchange on the London Underground network.
A witness on the bridge told CNN the van mowed down pedestrians as it sped south across the bridge, leaving bodies lying in the roadway.
London authorities were in the early phase of responding to reports of attacks on London Bridge and other areas of the city when Trump weighed in on Twitter.
Eyewitnesses told the BBC that the stabbers shouted "This is for Allah" as they attacked. Firing 50 bullets, eight police officers managed to kill the attackers within eight minutes of receiving first emergency calls.
A police officer who was responding to the attack on London Bridge was also stabbed.
"I threw something at them, maybe like a stool, a chair", he said. "People of all faiths and none must come together to defeat this evil", she said. Police officers yelled at people to run from the area.
"But I'd also like to pay tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the emergency services who attended the incident, in particular those law enforcement colleagues who risked their lives to protect the public and confronted the attackers".
