In a statement released on Saturday night, hours after the terrorism threat level in the United Kingdom was reduced from critical to severe, Greater Manchester's police chief, constable, Ian Hopkins and its deputy assistant commissioner, Neil Basu, senior national coordinator United Kingdom counter-terrorism policing, said the investigation was making good progress.
Eleven people remain in custody after being arrested in connection to the attack.
They said: 'We are gathering a detailed picture of Abedi as the investigation develops and now need people to tell us if they have any information about his movements from May 18 when he returned to the United Kingdom through to Monday night.
The statement did not say where Abedi had come from, but a relative in Libya earlier told AFP that the bomber had travelled from the North African country to Manchester.
She said: "The public should be clear about what this means - a threat level of severe means an attack is highly likely".
Anyone who may have any information on Abedi's whereabouts prior to the attack should contact the United Kingdom police via this web address.
