Meanwhile, Prime Minister Theresa May has raised the UK's terror threat to "critical".
Twenty-two people were killed and dozens injured in yesterday's Ariana Grande concert attack.
As Greater Manchester Police confirmed earlier today [Tuesday], the perpetrator was Salman Ramadan Abedi, a 22-year-old who was born and brought up in Britain.
Police said soldiers would initially be on guard duties at fixed points and could also be sent to patrol transport hubs, concerts and sports events.
Below is the information that has been made available on the victims of the terror attack. At present, it is unknown if the bomber was a "lone wolf" attacker or part of a terrorist cell, though police have raided the home of a 23-year-old man and arrested him in connection with the attack.
Abedi was reported to be a former business student who dropped out of university and turned to radical Islam.
"Saffie was simply a attractive little girl in every aspect of the word", said Chris Upton, the head teacher at Saffie's school. We're so happy. There's no other place we'd rather be than here with you.
"John was one one in a million and loved by so many!" the page says.
The suicide bombing came at the conclusion of Grande's concert at the 21,000-capacity Manchester Arena, one of Europe's largest indoor venues.
The attack sparked a nightlong search for loved-ones - parents for the children they had accompanied or had been waiting to pick up, and friends for each other after groups were scattered by the blast.
Terrified fans, many of them teenage girls, fled the arena in panic. The Liverpool Echo reported Chair of Governors of Halewood Primary said the young girl attended the school, and her brother was seriously injured in the attack. Some 59 people were taken to hospital, many with life-threatening conditions. Twelve of them were aged under 16.
The horror of terrorist attacks like the Manchester bombing Monday evening are obvious to anyone with a conscience, but we should also not overlook the small acts of heroism and compassion that arise from our darkest hours. "We will never be cowed by terrorism", he said. The attack was the deadliest in Britain since four suicide bombers killed 52 London commuters on subway trains and a bus in 2005.
"Characteristics of a good location include low light, as it grants one the ability to manoeuvre between the people, taking advantage of the confusion and killing as many kuffar (non-believers) as physically possible". That attack was also claimed by IS, as was one in March by a knifeman at the gates of the British parliament - although police downplayed that claim.
At Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II marked a moment of silence alongside her husband Prince Philip as well as Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.
"Words don't really do justice for how we all feel". That's what we could do, and that's what we're doing, so thank you Manchester.
The players will wear black armbands for the game in Stockholm and a minute's silence will be held.
