He has been identified as 32 year old Steven Flood who has no known current address, police say.

State police have identified a person of interest in the suspicious death of a New Fairfield woman and he is in police custody on an unrelated charge.

"The manner in which she was found and injuries noted to her body were suspicious in nature", state police wrote. They forced their way into the locked home and found her dead.

In their investigation, troopers began to consider Flood a person of interest in the case.

Eastern District Major Crime detectives helped the investigators by checking addresses in their area for Flood, according to state police. At around midday Thursday, a state trooper and a police dog found Flood camping in the woods in the town of Union, which is on the MA state line. He had the woman's vehicle. Police said they charged him with larceny after finding him with a stolen auto.

The warrant is sealed, but state police said Flood had a 21-year-old New Fairfield man's vehicle and that was the reason for the charge. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court in Danbury Friday.
