Spickelmier says as the number of volunteers continues to grow, the cemetery looks expand the parking lot and think of better ways to accommodate traffic flow through the burial grounds. Following the event a free breakfast for participants was held at the VFW in Knoxville. Ceremony to honor those who died while serving in the military.

Activities include music from the Stuart Highlanders Pipe Band, a taps performance by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9601 Castro Valley, a parade of colors by the Marine Color Guard, a dove release, a wreath presentation and a rifle salute.

The event takes place every year since 2009.

A luncheon will follow at the Veterans Hall, Skway and Elliott Road.

The Arsenal is also asking for Volunteers to help remove the flags on Tuesday, May 29th, at 7:30 a.m. Beale aircraft will fly over. Features guest speakers, civil war cannons and Liberty High School Band Heritage JROTC.

New flag holders will be placed by the markers of veterans that were partially funded by an $800 grant from the Barceloux-Tibessart Foundation.

A public memorial service will be held at the National Cemetery Saturday morning at 10 a.m.at the main flag pole.
