A woman has gone missing on the Saco River in Fryeburg and two police officers who were trying to find her were seriously hurt Saturday.
Fryeburg, Maine-May 27, 2017 - Officials said, Game Wardens are investigating a serious personal injury boat crash that happened on the Saco River in Fryeburg.
Officer Nathan Desjardins is in critical condition while Officer Dale Stout is in stable condition.
En route to the female, the officers hit an object near the shore while coming around a corner, causing them both to be ejected from the boat.
They were taken by a medical helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
The Fryeburg Police Department says it will continue to have units out on patrol in the town during the holiday weekend. Wayne Demers, 62 of Somerworth, NH, and Brian Day, 54 of South Berwick also fell out of the canoe, but made it to safety.
The warden service dive team was scheduled to resume the search Sunday morning.
