"You guys know what this represents?"
On Thursday, when reporters asked the President what he meant after his initial comment, Trump replied: "It could be, the calm, the calm before the storm".
"You'll find out", he said. "Maybe it's the calm before the storm", Trump said, following a meeting with his top military commanders.
After huddling with military leaders to discuss Iran, North Korea and the Islamic State group on Thursday evening, Trump used a photo with military brass and their partners to make an ominous pronouncement. "Could be the calm, the calm before the storm".
"What storm, Mr. President?" one reporter shouted.
Donald Trump's least presidential moments so far.
."I think Secretary Tillerson, Secretary Mattis and chief of staff Kelly are those people that help separate our country from chaos", Corker said, referring to Defense Secretary James Mattis and White House chief of staff John Kelly.
Multiple outlets have reported that the White House next week will effectively scrap the Iran nuclear deal signed by the Obama administration in 2015, kick-starting a new standoff between Iran and the U.S.
A senior administration official told Reuters on Thursday that Trump was expected to announce he will decertify the landmark global deal curbing Iran's nuclear program, in a step that could cause the accord to unravel.
His curious remark comes after he ordered officials to swiftly come up with various military options regarding North Korea's nuclear and missile threats. Trump recently threatened to "totally destroy" the rogue country if it attacks the USA or its allies.
He also pledged to "do what we must do to prevent that from happening and it will be done, if necessary".
