On his visit to Puerto Rico Tuesday, Trump addressed government officials, and compared the loss of life from Hurricane Maria to that from Hurricane Katrina, which struck Louisiana in 2005.
In an interview that aired on Tuesday's edition of Hannity, President Trump addressed Puerto Rico's debt and told FOX News' Geraldo Rivera "we're going to have to wipe that out".
Her comments referred to remarks Trump made during a meeting with local and federal officials Tuesday, when he claimed Puerto Rico had thrown the US budget "out of whack" and compared the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria to Hurricane Katrina, which he called "a real catastrophe".
We'll have more on Puerto Rico with Congressmember Nydia Velázquez of NY, who is originally from Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, where Hurricane Maria made landfall just over two weeks ago. Thousands of homes - majority made of wood - have been destroyed, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Cruz denounced the federal government for its sluggish relief efforts and begged for additional aid.
Why would Trump go out of his way to talk about money while the people of Puerto Rico are still shell-shocked over the death and destruction on the island?
Jenniffer González-Colón, the territory's nonvoting representative, who declared that Washington had sent everything Puerto Rico needed said, "Thank you, Mr. President, for all you have been doing for the island".
"The job that's been done here is really nothing short of a miracle", Trump said.
Currently, only a small percentage of Puerto Rico's population has electricity.
Garcia is now waiting for her other daughter to arrive from Puerto Rico Tuesday night.
Later, the governor said the death toll in Puerto Rico included 19 people who died as a direct result of the storm and 15 whose deaths were caused indirectly by the storm, local media reported.
"In Texas and in Florida, we get an A plus", he said.
She also slammed the president for throwing paper towel rolls into a crowd.
Before landing on the island, Mr Trump graded his own administration's response as an "A-plus".
"Every death is a horror", Trump said.
Puerto Ricans were among those to join the condemnation of the US President, suggesting he had treated them like animals.
However Bush offered Trump rare praise for his handling of hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
