The Washington Nationals have suspended assistant hitting coach Jacque Jones with pay for an indefinite period of time as the team investigates a legal matter, the team announced.
The Nationals did not provide details on the legal matter.
According to USA Today, which obtained court documents, Jones and the Nationals are listed as defendants in a revenge porn lawsuit. That plaintiff, known in the case filings as Jane Doe, alleges Jones "had photos of Plaintiff's naked breasts", "promised her that the photos would be kept between them", and that "after their relationship ended, Jones intentionally distributed the photos without Plaintiff's consent".
Robert Fitzpatrick, an attorney representing the plaintiff, alleges in the complaint that Jones continued distributing the images to additional mutual friends and that he was punishing her due to ending the couple's relationship.
"That was kind of a downer before the game", Washington manager Dusty Baker said. As of this writing, they were trailing the Cubs 2-0 in Game 1 of the NLDS.
The lawsuit claims as well that the Nationals were aware of the predisposition and propensity of Jones to intimidate and emotionally abuse women.
With the Washington Nationals set to begin their postseason Friday night against the Chicago Cubs, the team will reportedly be without a member of its coaching staff.
